Anti-Scam Policies
Last updated: 24 September 2026
Find Driving School connects learners with independent driving schools and instructors. Fraud, impersonation, fake qualifications, misleading offers and dishonest payment requests are not permitted. A listing on this site is not a guarantee that a provider has been independently checked.
Check before you book
- Confirm the instructor's full name, business identity, genuine contact number and service area using an independent source.
- For lessons in Great Britain, check the official DVSA instructor search and ask about the instructor's current registration or trainee licence. For Northern Ireland, check with the DVA.
- Speak to the provider before paying. Confirm the vehicle, transmission, lesson duration, pickup arrangements and total price.
- Ask for written booking, cancellation, refund and prepaid-lesson expiry terms. Keep copies of messages, invoices and receipts.
Protect your payment
Be cautious about pressure to pay immediately, very large advance payments, unexplained changes to bank details or payment to an unrelated person. Confirm changed payment details through a contact method you have independently checked. Avoid requests for gift cards, cryptocurrency or transfers presented as a condition of releasing a refund.
Choose a payment method whose protections you understand and keep a receipt. Find Driving School does not hold lesson deposits, operate escrow or guarantee refunds. Treat claims that we are holding your money or guaranteeing a provider's payment request as suspicious and contact us.
Recognise warning signs
- A promise of a guaranteed driving-test pass or an official connection that cannot be verified.
- Copied photos, inconsistent business names or contact details, or a refusal to explain instructor credentials.
- Unexpected links asking you to sign in, reveal a password, provide a one-time code or send identity documents.
- Requests to install remote-access software or pay another fee to recover money already lost.
Judge the evidence and behaviour, not someone's nationality, accent or writing style. An email-verification step only checks access to an email address; it does not verify professional status.
Rules for listing owners
Publish accurate information, honour the terms you agree with learners and keep your contact details and qualifications current. Do not impersonate another school, use photos without permission, create fake reviews, conceal mandatory charges or harvest users' details for unsolicited marketing. We may restrict or remove listings that breach these rules and request evidence to resolve a concern.
Report a concern to us
Use the report option on a listing where available, or contact us. Include the listing URL, business name, dates and a clear explanation. Keep original evidence, but redact unrelated personal details from anything you send. Do not send passwords, verification codes or full card details.
We will consider reports and may request more information, correct or remove content, or restrict an account where justified. A report alone does not establish wrongdoing. Listing owners may contact us to ask for a decision to be reviewed. Reporting to us does not replace reporting a crime, and we cannot guarantee recovery of lost funds.
If you have paid a suspected scammer
Contact your bank or payment provider immediately through its official app or a trusted number. Save evidence and stop sending money. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, report suspected fraud through Report Fraud. In Scotland, contact Police Scotland on 101. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
For suspicious messages and websites, follow the GOV.UK reporting guidance. If you shared a password, change it on the genuine service and on any other account where you reused it.
